Welcome

Dear colleagues

It is our pleasure to present HaemOnc 2022! It was so wonderful to have our community back together again last year and we look forward to build on your enthusiastic support and participation in HaemOnc 2022.

This year’s conference brings HaemOnc to KZN for the first time! Our venue will be the magical Zimbali Coastal Resort in close proximity to the King Shaka International Airport. It is going to be an experience to remember, not only from a scientific point of view, but also to celebrate fantastic collaboration and achievements over the last year. The HaemOnc theme remains “Haematology in Action” – a stagnation discontent.

Once again we have some top-calibre speakers lined up to cover a great variety of topics. The plan is to also focus on diseases that have been somewhat neglected in recent years, i.e. T-cell lymphomas (cutaneous & systemic), aplastic anemia and auto-immune Haematology, to name a few. There have been significant developments in so many areas.

We also look forward to the presentation of local scientific data and want to encourage all colleagues to share their experiences and expertise with our community.

At HaemOnc 2021 we had the biggest Nurses Symposium yet. It is wonderful to see the increasing collaboration and unification amongst our Haematology nursing staff across the country. We call on all of our Haematology nurses, allied healthcare workers and auxiliary staff to use HaemOnc 2022 as an opportunity to get involved in the greater Haematology community.

At the end of the day, HaemOnc is not only about the fantastic scientific input we receive, it’s about the people you share it with: The colleagues and support staff that help us bring it all into action in treating our patients.

We look forward to seeing all of you in October!

Best wishes,

Hannes Koornhof
